NBA great Patrick Ewing isn’t the only former big man who will be re-releasing his signature sneakers this year. In addition to the Ewing Athletics 33 Hi sneakers that will hit stores this month, Nike has revealed that they’ll be giving David Robinson‘s signature shoe a re-release sometime later this year in honor of his services in the NBA. Like the 33 Hi sneakers, the Nike Air Force 180 High sneakers that The Admiral used to rock in the paint are really, really high. But, that seems to be the style that many sneakerheads are loving right now, so we expect the 180 Highs to be a hit when they drop.
As you can see, the Nike Air Force 180 High that is pictured here is not exactly like the 180 High that Robinson used to wear back in the day. They used to include a “pump” on the upper. But, Nike has decided to do away with the pump this time around (which won’t sit well with all of the sneakerheads out there) in favor of a cleaner, smoother look on the upper of this 180 High re-release. The sneaker features a mostly white upper with hints of teal, black, and grey splattered across different parts of the sneaker. They’re simple, tasteful, and are guaranteed to be a hit amongst those who like the high-top look that Robinson used to favor.
So, when will you be able to get your hands on these? Well, we’re not sure yet. Nike released some official images recently, but they’ve yet to tell us when or where we can buy these or how much they’ll cost. but, when they do drop sometime later this year, expect them to be a fan favorite. If you’re copping the 33 Hi sneakers, make sure you save some scratch for these, too. You’ll want the Ewing and Robinson sneakers to sit side-by-side in your closet. They’ll make for quite a presence in the post.
