The New Balance 501 has a stripped-down retro-inspired silhouette that typically carries an upper crafted from a combination of nylon and suede. An upcoming pack trades in the traditional lightweight nylon for the ballistic variety but keeps the synthetic suede overlay, and throws in textured leather at the “N” side logo and heel tab. Additional details include two-tone EVA midsole and a lightly padded collar, plus gum rubber outsole and contrast stitching throughout the upper.
