May the birds be with you!
Rovio has released the first trailer promoting Angry Birds Star Wars, its tie-in game with Lucas Film announced Monday.
The trailer actually uses original footage from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope; you see the classic scene where Han Solo and Obi-Wan Kenobi approach the Death Star for the first time
“This is one of the few times Lucasfilm has allowed for such use of the original material, and we feel the end result is creative, powerful, and most importantly a lot of fun for fans of both Angry Birds and Star Wars,” Ville Heijari, vice president of franchise development at Rovio, told Mashable.
This trailer is the first of three like it that use original footage from Star Wars. Rovio will release eight trailers in total, including a three-minute animated short. There will also be a whole line of tie-in merchandise and toys available starting Oct. 28.
Angry Birds Star Wars will be out for iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle Fire, Mac, PC, Windows Phone and Windows 8 on Nov. 8.
